Last Saturday, we attended the Simply Stylist Fashion & Beauty Conference at the Dana Hotel. The event was hosted by the gorgeous and super cool Catt Sadler of E! News with an amazing panel featuring Wendy Nguyen from Wendy’s Lookbook; Annie Finch, the Founder of Katherine Cosmetics; Stephanie Mark, Co-Founder of The Coveteur; and Allison Cooke, Director of Marketing at CS Magazine. It was so incredible to hear how each of these women started and their journeys to become the successful entrepreneurs and businesswomen that they are today. In particular, we really connected with Wendy, who just a few short years ago was working at a corporate job before deciding to take a leap of faith to pursue her dream in fashion. It was really inspiring for us to hear that, especially considering we started Sequins Are A Girl’s Best Friend in January and while balancing a full-time corporate job.
Later in the afternoon, we got the chance to network with other fashion bloggers, and even got the opportunity to attend educational sessions. Our particular favorite was led by the Co-Founder of Keaton Row, Elenor Mak. Since we recently became stylists for Keaton Row (sign up here for free!), we loved hearing how she built her own fashion business. From her time in the corporate world, to finding investors after Harvard Business School, to being unemployed/”fun”-employed for 6 months, her hard work paid off. Keaton Row is now changing the world of personal shopping and the way people are buying clothes online!
The Simply Stylist Conference was an incredibly inspiring day full of fashion, beauty, styling and shopping and we can’t wait until next year’s conference!
