One year ago today, we stepped out of our comfort zones and into the spotlight as we opened up our hearts and closets to the world in our very first blog post. Together, we took a leap of faith and put ourselves out there for all to see.
At first, we were scared to death and had no idea what we were doing. Our minds flooded with worries, doubt, and uncertainties. Who was actually going to read our blog? What will we write about? What will others think of our clothes or our words? As scared as we were to start, we were so desperate for an outlet outside of work. At the time, our corporate jobs lacked inspiration, excitement, and creativity. So if anything, we thought this blog could be our own secret diary to document daily outfits and inspire our closest friends and family to shop style on a budget. We had nothing to lose, right?
Fast forward 365 days to the day we look back and wonder how we managed to do it. 2014 was full of exciting and emotional changes both personally (K’s wedding) and professionally (E’s new job) for both of us. It was a year that pulled at our heartstrings and tested our patience, but no matter what happened, we always had each other. We spent countless hours playing dress up every weekend, snapping pictures of each other, laughing at ourselves, and consistently posting our content 5 days a week for 52 weeks straight.
Somewhere between the outfit changes, cupcake breaks, and awkward stares from strangers on the street, we found our voice and turned our doubts into dreams. We believed in each other and we believed in our brand. We stayed true to ourselves and never once let the pressure of others influence who we were and what we stood for. We conquered more than we set out to accomplish and we surpassed all of our expectations.
The true celebration today is not really about us, or even our blog. It is about all of you, and how heartwarming and inspiring it is to be surrounded by such a positive group of people who continuously provide feedback and push us to be better. The support we feel every day means more than anything we could ever ask for. So here’s to all of you and a new year filled with friends, fashion, and lots of sequins!
